New Honda Passport 2024 Specs, Release Date, Redesign – The 2024 Honda Passport is like a quiet left fielder who gets the job done without becoming the center of attention. The Passport has almost a dozen competitors in the midsize SUV sector, each with its strengths and weaknesses. The Passport isn’t a clear standout in this crowded and fiercely competitive category, but its solid all-around skills and lack of downsides put it in the upper third. The Honda Passport, a midsize SUV with two rows of seats, is based on the bigger Honda Pilot, a three-row SUV, and comes standard with all of Honda’s most recent safety and driver-assistance technologies. The Passport combines its cutting-edge features with a powerful V-6 engine, an advanced 9-speed automatic gearbox, and all-wheel drive as standard equipment. Although the Passport lacks excitement, exceptional off-road ability, and eye-catching styling, it has sufficient power and performance, can tow up to 5,000 pounds, and serves admirably as a family transporter. If you like the Passport but need extra space, the Honda Pilot, which is related to the Passport, is a good option.
After a minor redesign for the 2023 model year, the Passport sees minor modifications for the 2024 version. Honda is again offering the Passport in various trim levels but at significantly higher prices than in previous years. The exterior design of the Passport SUV has never been flashy, but it has never been the worst-looking SUV. The redesigned aggressive front end, revised grille, bumpers, and power bulge hood found on this year’s models are very much appreciated. It has more prominent exhaust finishers and redesigned bumpers. Automatic LED headlights, rear privacy glass, a dual-exit exhaust, LED brake lights, and a clever programmable remote keyless entry system are all included in the basic model. Except for the new TrailSport, which has off-road-oriented two-tone 18-inch alloy spins with massive 245/60R18 tires, all versions ride on 20-inch split-spoke alloy wheels. Black “Passport” and “AWD” badging complement the orange “TrailSport” badging on the TrailSport. Power moonroofs, power door locks, memory-linked side mirrors, and a power liftgate are standard on all models. One unique feature exclusive to the Elite is a hands-free tailgate. Roof rails are typical on the TrailSport and Elite, while parking sensors are standard on all but the base model.
As a midsize SUV, the Honda Passport competes with the Chevrolet Blazer and Subaru Outback; however, it appears much more prominent in person. The Passport has a long wheelbase of 111 inches and an overall length of 190.5 inches. This vehicle commands attention with a length of 179.1 inches, a width of 78.6 inches, and a height of 71.6 inches. 2WD versions have front and rear tracks of 67 and 66.7 inches, respectively, while AWD models measure 66.7 inches, except the TrailSport AWD, which measures 67.1 inches. The 2024 Passport weighs between 4,057 and 4,236 pounds (FWD/AWD) in its basic configuration. The Elite is the heaviest model available and is available with all-wheel drive for a total of 4,262 pounds. FWD vehicles have a ground clearance of 7.5 inches, whereas AWD vehicles have a good 8.1 inches. FWD vehicles have an approach angle of 20.1 degrees and a departure angle of 23.4 degrees, whereas AWD vehicles have an approach angle of 21.1/24.3 degrees.

Lunar Silver Metallic is excellent for the everyday driver, but Radiant Red is the way to go if you’re daring. Sadly, Obsidian Blue is no longer available for the TrailSport.
Those inside a Honda Ridgeline will feel right at home in the Passport. Although the design is essential, the materials are pleasing, and the controls are well laid out (although we prefer physical buttons and knobs to touchscreens). There is plenty of space in the front seats, and an adjustable armrest is a nice touch. The Passport can carry as many as five passengers thanks to its spacious back seat. We could fit all 15 carry-on bags into the 41 cubic feet storage area behind the rear seat. When you fold down that section, you have access to an additional 78 cubic feet of storage space, giving you enough for 33 suitcases. Several convenient bins are positioned around the cabin, and a sizable one is in the middle console.
Each Passport has a standard infotainment system that includes an 8.0-inch touchscreen, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. The device also has Bluetooth and a wireless charging station for smartphones. EX-L and TrailSport trims provide a seven-speaker audio system, while the Passport Elite’s top-of-the-line ten-speaker system is standard equipment. Both the TrailSport and the Elite come equipped with a 115-volt power outlet. Wi-Fi hotspot connectivity is only available on the top-tier Elite model, not the EX-L or TrailSport trims.
The New Honda Passport 2024 is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine with natural aspiration and Honda’s lauded i-VTEC variable valve timing technology. It has a nine-speed automatic transmission that distributes the engine’s 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque to all four wheels. While the Passport and the Pilot have the same mechanical components, the former offers noticeably superior performance and handling in urban environments due to its smaller size. It can easily pass slower vehicles on the highway. Despite having had its nine-speed transmission recalibrated a few years ago, we still occasionally experience gear hunting under heavy acceleration. Paddle shifters attached to the steering column provide drivers with the option of a more hands-on driving experience.
Buyers of the Honda Passport are looking for something other than an SUV that can keep up with a Challenger Hellcat; they are looking for one that can hit sixty in under ten seconds and cruise along safely on the highway. The Passport, fortunately, serves dual purposes. A 3.5-liter V6 engine with natural aspiration provides the lineup’s 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. That’s plenty of power for this SUV, allowing it to accelerate from 0 – 60 mph in around six seconds (as fast as a 1965 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray). The Passport’s powerful engine lets it tow up to 5,000 pounds. The Honda SUV has the company’s Intelligent Traction Management technology, which can be switched between Snow, Sand, and Mud modes.
Although we didn’t expect the Honda Passport to get excellent gas mileage given its size and the fact that it has a naturally aspirated V6 engine of considerable displacement, we were pleasantly pleased by its performance. The EPA estimates 19/24/21 mpg city, highway, and combined for this SUV. The Passport has a fuel capacity of 19.5 gallons, giving it a range of 409 miles before needing recharging. Every model comes standard with all-wheel drive, so you can’t make a more fuel-efficient choice.
New Honda Passport 2024 Release Date and Price
Honda’s Passport EX-L trim level starts at $41,100. Starting at $43,600, the TrailSport is less expensive than the top-tier $46,560 Elite. The Elite will be very near the $50,000 threshold when fully loaded. It’s excellent news that you can quickly locate a reliable pre-owned Honda Passport for sale for a price that’s far lower than the baseline cost of a brand-new one.
