It has a noisy interior and a small trunk, but who cares when the engine can rev to 8000 rpm?

The only Honda S2000 with a hardtop is the S2000 CR, which has a race-inspired retractable roof, seatback cowls, and a large rear wing. The fact that it seems modern even after ten years is a testament to how well it was executed; this design will stand the test of time.
The standard trim has unique external features such as remote entry with automatic trunk release, an electrically operated soft top that is still one of the quickest-dropping in the business, and dual-outlet exhaust pipes. This vehicle’s base and CR versions use an aluminum bonnet and lightweight alloy wheels of 17 inches in diameter to save weight.
It would be against the S2000’s spirit to equip it with a luxurious cabin. Everything you need to start is there, but that’s about it. Even though the build quality is excellent, as with any high-end vehicle from the same company, some rattles and squeaks may find their way into the cabin over time because the suspension is too stiff. The seats are well-bolstered and durable, making them ideal for fast driving. Standard features include air conditioning, cruise control, a steering wheel wrapped in leather, an aluminum shift knob, built-in rollover bars, a 12-volt outlet, and a red start button. The S2000’s original engine in the United States was a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder known internally as the F20C. A 9,000 rpm redline wasn’t a problem for this motor, but it was severely lacking in the low-end torque prized by American drivers. The previous 2.4-liter engine was replaced with a 2.2-liter one with a lower rev limit (8,000 rpm) but higher torque, but unless you opened the hood, you would never know the difference. It was never lightning quick, even by 2009 standards, but it still surprises you, given its modest four-cylinder engine.
The power and torque ratings are 237 horsepower and 162 lb-ft, respectively. As the powertrain has to enter the VTEC zone at roughly 6,000 rpm to begin going entirely, low-speed acceleration might be sluggish, but this comes at the expense of fuel economy. The rear wheels receive power from a six-speed manual transmission that could be the smoothest-moving gearbox you’ve ever rowed. Specifically, it will reach 60 miles per hour in around five seconds and top out at about 150 miles per hour. The EPA calculates a mileage of 18 mpg in the city, 25 mpg on the highway, and 21 mpg in the combined mode, which is far from economical. This is a slight improvement compared to the 350Z Roadster’s 17/24/20 mpg. A full tank of gas in the S2000’s 13.2-gallon tank would allow for a trip of about 275 miles.
