New 2024 Honda S2000 Redesign, MPG, Pricing – The two-seat, four-wheel sportbike manufactured by Honda offers rear-drive roadster pleasure in a remarkably well-balanced chassis. A high-revving four-cylinder engine with 237 horsepower is mated to a manual transmission with six gears. The S2000CR is the ultimate track rat, featuring a more rigid suspension along with additional aerodynamic parts, one of which is a massive wing. Who cares that it has a small trunk and a loud cabin noise when it can spin at 8,000 rpm?
Reviewers were impressed with the 2024 Honda S2000’s race car performance, which was made possible by the rear-wheel drive configuration, 2.2-liter four-cylinder engine, and manual transmission. However, critics state that maintaining a high rev is necessary to get that performance. The only gearbox option is a manual one, and testers were impressed with how smoothly it switched gears. The S2000’s city/highway fuel economy ratings of 18/25 mpg are about average in the category of cheap sports cars. The superior handling dynamics of the S2000 were praised by reviewers who drove the vehicle on winding roads. There is absolutely no way to confuse the S2000 with a Mazda Miata. This streamlined machine flaunts a sculpted body design and tantalizingly flared arches, making it look excellent on any day of the week. It seems like it was planted there and is ready to strike any moment. The S2000 CR pushes the envelope even further with its race-inspired detachable roof—the only Honda S2000 model with a hardtop, seatback cowls, and a substantial rear wing. When a design can still look modern more than a decade after its creation, it speaks a lot about its success; this design will always be lovely.
The standard model comes with exterior features such as a remote entry system with an automatic trunk release, an electrically driven soft top that is still among the quickest-dropping roofs available, and dual-outlet exhaust pipes. These characteristics are standard across all models. Aluminum was used for the hood, and the base derivative’s wheels were silver, while the CRs were gray. Both of these features contributed to the vehicle’s overall weight reduction.
We wouldn’t have it any other way because the spirit of the S2000 doesn’t allow for a luxury interior in the first place. The fundamentals of everything are covered, but that is about it. The build quality is excellent, as it is with all of the manufacturer’s high-end models; however, as the years pass, a few rattles and squeaks will make their way into the cabin; this is an unfortunate sign of the stiff suspension. The seats have excellent lateral support, making them ideal for sporty driving, and they can take a beating without showing signs of wear. A red start button, air conditioning, cruise control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, an aluminum shift knob, integrated rollover bars, and a 12-volt outlet are all included as amenities in this vehicle. Adjustments can be made in all four directions in this seat. Standard equipment includes an AM/FM/CD radio with eight speakers, some of which are built into the roll bars of the vehicle.
No matter which version of the S2000 CR you choose—the ragtop or the hardtop—the legroom is 44.3 inches, and the headroom is 34.6 inches. Both of these dimensions are comparable. The Club Racer is also different from the basic version because it has more bottomless buckets bolstered and covered in yellow and black fabric. In contrast, the basic understanding has black leather thrones.
When it was first released in the United States, the S2000 was equipped with a 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder engine with the codename F20C. This engine could reach a dizzyingly high 9,000 revolutions per minute, but it lacked the low-end torque preferred by drivers in the United States. After that, the engine was upgraded to a 2.2-liter one with a rev limit of 8,000 revolutions per minute (rpm) lower but produced greater torque; nevertheless, if you looked in the engine compartment, you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference. Even by the standards of 2009, it was never swift, but it still amazes me, especially considering that it is a four-cylinder engine with a relatively small size.

The powertrain needs to transition into the VTEC zone at approximately 6,000 revolutions per minute before it can start the vehicle moving at low speeds, which results in a sluggish acceleration experience. However, this comes at the expense of improved fuel economy. The rear wheels are driven by a six-speed manual transmission that has the potential to be the smoothest shifting transmission you’ve ever worked with. Regarding the figures, it will finish the 0-60 mph sprint in the middle of the range for five seconds, and then it will continue to reach a maximum speed of 150 mph. The EPA estimates that the vehicle achieves 18/25/21 mpg in city, highway, and mixed driving, which is poor fuel economy. Still, these numbers are a little better than what the 350Z Roadster got, which was 17/24/20 mpg. So, if the S2000’s fuel tank, which holds 13.2 gallons, was complete, it could drive for about 275 miles before finding a gas station.

Prices for previously used S2000 models had already fallen below the original manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of the Honda S2000 when it was brand new, which ranged from $34,995 to $37,995. The reborn S2000 from Honda will be an entirely new model for 2024 and is scheduled to go on sale in June of that year.
