New 2024 Honda Civic Type R Colors, Specs, Cost – To be sure, the 2024 Honda Civic Type R is less flashy looking than its overly stylized predecessor, but that should not hinder it from being just as thrilling to drive. All three models are based on Honda’s newest platform, which is more modern than the previous generation’s. The new turbocharged four-cylinder engine from Honda hasn’t been officially announced yet, but we expect it to be more potent than the previous model. The good news is that the next generation of the Type R will retain its manual transmission. So far, Honda has only acknowledged the three-pedal shuffle as a transmission, so these drivers are out of luck.
The new Civic Type R for 2024 is nearly identical to the previous model, except for adding a new trim level. The Limited Edition is exactly what it sounds like. This is a minimal run, with only 600 units going to the States. Lightweight BBS forged alloys covered in Michelin rubber, gloss black accents, and improved steering and damper tuning make this vehicle unique. While lighter, it still holds the Formula One track record for FWD in Suzuka.

New 2024 Honda Civic Type R Redesign
The Civic Type R’s bodywork is as “out there” as it gets. Multiple vents in the front bumper support LED headlamps and an aggressive chin spoiler. Intake scoops and vents can be found on each front fender, but the aggression doesn’t stop there. There are more than three exhaust tips and a large diffuser at the back of the car, thanks to aggressive side skirts. The LE model’s BBS-designed 20-inch wheels are standard. The LE variant does away with the rear wiper for improved aerodynamics and reduced weight.
The 2024 Civic Type R’s length is 179.4 inches, and its wheelbase is 106.3 inches, earning it the same size as the 2022 model. There is a 73.9-inch width and a 56.5-inch height. The LE model weighs 46 pounds less than the Touring variant at 3,075 lbs. The Limited Edition model is distinguished by its unique Phoenix Yellow Pearl paint finish, available only on this model. The hood scoop, mirror caps, and roof panel are all gloss black, though. It’s good that the standard model has a few options, even if they don’t have the opportunity of yellow. You can add on Boost Blue Pearl, Championship White, or Sonic Gray Pearl for $395, but they are not part of the regular options.

Interior
As expected, the 2024 Civic Type R’s interior design is more pared-down than its predecessor’s, but it still boasts plenty of aesthetic flairs. The brightest contrast is provided by the red of the seat upholstery and carpeting. There are two cupholders, a huge storage bin, and two cupholders in the center console of the Type R, just like the regular Civic. The Type R’s dashboard houses a 9.0-inch touchscreen from Honda’s newest infotainment system. The vehicle will likely come with a Wi-Fi hotspot that requires a subscription and wireless smartphone charging.
For the new generation 2024 Civic Type R, we expect it to have a similar interior to the new Civic Si, but with a little more sportiness. The new Civic’s interior is clean and uncluttered, and we are big fans of this design decision. The new 2024 Civic Type R interior color schemes are dominated by black with red accents. The AC vents are surrounded by crimson accents on the door trim and the seats. Because of horizontal bands of some mesh-like plastic trim and a 9.0-inch touchscreen with a floating style, the low and wide dash is no longer as uninteresting as it once was. The interior doesn’t have a lot of buttons, and it does feel rather sporty.

Engine
The company has announced that a manual transmission will remain standard on Honda’s most potent Civic, the CR-V. In the new generation of the Civic Type R, a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine is anticipated to deliver more horsepower and torque than the previous iteration, which produced 306 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. The new Type R’s chassis will be a development of the one that underpins the outgoing car rather than a new one. We don’t think a control-arm front suspension, like the one on the Acura TLX, is an option. Instead, the front-drive-only Honda will probably keep its innovative dual-axis strut front suspension, which reduces torque steer.
A substantial rear wing and other aerodynamic add-ons are still present in the next generation of Civic Type R. The new CTR has 19-inch wheels instead of the previous model’s 20-inch rims, which are shod with additional sidewall rubber for the summer. In terms of city and highway driving efficiency, neither the EPA nor Honda have provided any information about the 2024 Civic Type R. We’ll be able to assess its real-world mpg once these estimations are made public. As part of our extensive testing procedure, we’ve had an opportunity to test one on our 75 mph highway fuel economy route. Visit the EPA’s website to know more about Civic Type R’s fuel efficiency.
