Multiple four-cylinder engines are available, including a turbocharged 1.5-liter option, and front-wheel drive will remain the norm, as Honda has repeatedly stated that the all-wheel industry is not in the works. The Civic’s rivals include the Hyundai Elantra, the Mazda 3, and the Toyota Corolla, so Honda needs to keep up with the times by incorporating cutting-edge technologies. Some examples of such updates include a larger infotainment display, wireless smartphone connectivity, and enhanced driver-assistance features. While the Toyota Camry has been a consistent best-seller in the United States, the Honda Civic has maintained its position as the country’s second best-selling vehicle (as opposed to a truck or SUV). However, the Civic sold thirty thousand more units in the compact car market last year than the Toyota Corolla. And by an even more significant margin than the rest. That’s why Honda must perfect the Civic every time.
In 2024, Honda reimagined the Civic, making significant changes to the exterior and cabin. The 2024 Civic, like its predecessor, will be available as a sedan and a hatchback. We think the extra money is well spent on the EX trim level of the sedan, which comes standard with several convenient extras. These conveniences include automatic climate control, heated seats, heated mirrors, and blind-spot monitoring. An upgraded turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 180 horsepower is included as well. The Honda Civic Sedan’s eleventh iteration returned to a more subdued design than the previous generation. Instead of simply improving upon the creation of the prior iteration, they examined everyone. They concentrated on these shared characteristics while designing the new Honda Civic, which includes a long, low, and thin body; a broad stance; and a glassy cabin with a low beltline. Overall, the outcome is more appealing and less likely to raise controversy than Gen Ten. It sports a blunt front end, A-pillars pulled back, and a “glassy” cabin. Except for the base LX, which rides on 16-inch steel wheels with plastic covers, every other trim level rides on either 17- or 18-inch alloy wheels. Automatic LED headlights and door handles matching the body color are standard across the board. The chrome exhaust finisher and black side mirrors on the Honda Civic Sports help set it apart from other trims, while the LED foglights on the top-tier Touring help it stand out from the crowd. Power moonroofs are now standard on the EX and Touring models.
Many of the previous model year’s color options for the new Civic have been carried over. Rallye Red, Aegean Blue, Platinum White ($395), Lunar Silver, Crystal Black, and Sonic Gray Pearl are some well-known colors available. Meteorite Gray and Morning Mist Blue are the two latest additions to the color scheme. It will cost you $395 to purchase each of these new hues.
The New 2024 Honda Civic is the most luxurious Civic ever produced. The 2024 Honda Civic’s cabin was created for the rider’s and passenger’s convenience. The horizontal honeycomb pattern that spans the dashboard length to conceal the air vents and restrict the space devoted to the audio and climate control systems is visually striking and functionally practical. Two more storage compartments, a wireless charging pad, and a leather-wrapped armrest are just some of the ergonomic upgrades made to the expanded center console. The front and rear seats of the 2024 Civic are supportive and comfy. The cabin’s innovative layout ensures that all passengers in both rows have enough legroom. It also keeps the cabin light and airy and gives passengers a great outside view.
All these sedans offer comparable amounts of space for the driver and front passenger, but the actual competition is in the back. Regarding rear-seat space, the Elantra outperforms the competition, with more than enough head- and legroom and slightly less shoulder room than the Civic. As for the cargo capacity, the Civic is, without doubt, the one with the enormous trunk, followed by the Elantra. While the Corolla not only lacks rear-seat capacity but also comes with the shortest box of all the sedans listed.
Although Honda has updated the Civic in every other way, it has kept the same engine and transmission choices as before. The basic engine in the base model is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 158 horsepower, while the optional engine is a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 180 horsepower. Only a front-wheel-drive version of the new Civic is available. The Civic sedan’s six-speed manual transmission was eliminated for the 2024 model year and replaced by a CVT; the hatchback, however, retains its manual transmission. In 7.5 seconds, our turbocharged Touring sedan reached 60 mph on our test track, which is somewhat slower than the result of the previous generation of Civic. The Civic Sport Touring hatchback with a manual transmission was marginally faster, reaching 60 mph in 7.3 seconds. Thankfully, the model’s agile handling, responsive steering, and well-balanced ride from the previous generation are carried over here. We also look closely at the high-performance Type-R and the sporty Si versions, which are getting manual transmissions shortly.
