Honda HR-V 2024 All Model, Specs, Redesign – The previous version of the HR-V may be considered “good enough,” which is unusual for Honda. The interior was refined, the cabin was OK but a touch tinny, the power was just OK, and the back seats were too tiny for children to grow into, all of which were issues with the compact crossover built on the Honda Fit’s basis. Unlike its international counterpart, the new Honda HR-V is made exclusively for the American market. It has completely been redesigned based on the latest generation of Honda’s excellent Civic chassis. Gone is the old 1.8-liter engine, replaced by a larger 2.0-liter i-VTEC four-cylinder producing 158 horsepower and 138 lb-ft of torque. The interior is more luxurious and equipped with Honda’s most recent entertainment and safety technologies. We drove to Washington State and throughout Oregon to test the latest generation Honda HR-V.
If you need a compact SUV without breaking the bank, the new 2024 Honda HR-V is worth considering. The HR interior V’s is well-appointed, with supportive seats, a roomy trunk, and a simple-to-operate media interface being particularly notable features. It’s a rarity among compact SUVs, but the Jeep Renegade is nimble and fun to drive on twisty roads while still providing a smooth ride over imperfections on the surface. The standard equipment list for the HR-V is vast and includes everything from Apple CarPlay to adaptive cruise control. The Major V’s drawback is that its four-cylinder engine has trouble quickly bringing this SUV up to speed. When compared to its forerunner, the revised HR-V is a vast improvement.
To compete with the swarm of chic and affordable subcompact SUVs that have descended upon the market, Honda redesigned the HR-V for 2024. Though its predecessor was functional and reasonably priced, it fell short of competitors like the Hyundai Kona, Kia Seltos, and Mazda CX-30. So, it shouldn’t be surprising that the new HR-V looks very different from the previous generation. The new 2024 HR-V is based on the same platform as the Civic and borrows the Civic’s 2.0-liter naturally aspirated inline-four engine.

2024 Honda HR-V Redesign
Keeping track of the old HR-V looks like it requires frequent glances out the window into the driveway. The new one has improved thanks to Honda’s most recent design trends. The subcompact car’s new, more confident appearance is partly due to its wider track, lower belt line, and redesigned fenders. The HR-front V’s look is rather sophisticated, thanks to the tiny patterned grille and slim Accord-style LED headlamps. One way to get cleaner lines is to hide the windshield wipers and remove the roof moldings.
Depending on the HR-V trim, it will have either a honeycomb matte-finished front grille or a horizontal design grille, 17-inch silver-painted alloy wheels or 18-inch split five-spoke wheels, Shark Grey 17-inch alloy wheels, and chrome exhaust tips to set it apart. The HR-V EX-L will also have a power moonroof. The rear privacy glass is tinted in color on both higher trim levels.
There are seven distinct hues to choose from, some exclusive to higher-tier trims. You may have any models in Crystal Black, Lunar Silver, Modern Steel, or Platinum White Pearl for an additional $395. New Aegean Blue and Milano Red exterior paint jobs complement the existing Black and White Sport trim options. Midnight Amethyst Metallic is an extra $395 option on the EX, whereas Milano Red is no longer offered. The premium EX-L trim is available in every shade except Milano Red.

Interior
The Honda HR-V 2024 takes cues from the new Civics’ more contemporary interior design, timeless and stylish. The front seats provide a high level of adjustability and comfort. Former variants included Honda’s ingenious second-row Magic Seat, which flips and folds the back seat to produce a shallow, flat floor. That innovation allowed the HR-V to set the standard for cargo capacity in its class, despite its compact dimensions. Sadly, Honda didn’t include that function in the new HR-V, but the company says the more extensive cargo area and lower lift-over height will make it easier to carry bulky objects.
CarPlay and Android Auto are standard on all models’ infotainment systems’ touchscreen displays, with wireless connectivity available on the more extensive 9.0-inch panel found only in the top EX-L trim. The EX-L also comes with a wireless charging pad for your smartphone. Extras like Wi-Fi hotspots, navigation systems built into the dashboard, and SiriusXM satellite radio are also expected to be available.

Engine
In most markets, the HR-V is powered by a hybrid powertrain derived from the Insight and Accord; however, the U.S. market model is equipped with a more conventional gasoline 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, producing 158 horsepower. That’s probably recognizable because it’s the foundation of the powerplant in the Honda Civic. Since the HR-V conveys its platform with the Civic, we may see a 180-hp turbocharged 1.5-liter or a hybrid engine added to the range. The 2.0-liter four-cylinder in the HR-V seems sluggish and gutless. Currently, all trims come standard with front-wheel drive and a continuously variable automatic gearbox (CVT), but an all-wheel industry is a configurable option. The old HR-V didn’t have the calm agility we expected from Hondas, but the new one makes up for it using the chassis from the lively Civic.
The HR-V comes standard with front-wheel drive, but we had the option of adding Honda’s Real Time AWD system, which also said Hill Descent Control, to our test vehicle. The HR-V has three primary driving modes: Normal, Snow, and Econ. Snow mode reduces throttle responsiveness, optimizes the gearbox and all-wheel drive (AWD) for snowy situations, and disables the engine’s automatic stop/start system compared to Normal mode. Like other Honda models, the Econ adjusts throttle input ratios and employs a more efficient air conditioning cycle to enhance the economy. In this setting, the EPA estimates that the two-wheel-drive vehicles will achieve 26/32/28 mpg city/highway/combined, while the all-wheel-drive variants will achieve 25/30/27 mpg.
Honda HR-V 2024 Release Date and Price
The new 2024 Honda HR-V has a starting MSRP of $23,650. In the class of subcompact SUVs, that’s a little above the norm. In contrast, with all of the bells and whistles, the price of an HR-V comes to $28,950, which is far cheaper than many of its leading competitors. Next to the smaller CR-V and the larger Passport and Pilot, Honda’s HR-V is the smallest SUV it offers. The 2024 Honda HR-V is scheduled to debut in the summer of that year in the United States.
