All-New Honda HR-V 2024 Changes, Specs, Pricing – To compete with the swarm of chic and affordable subcompact SUVs, Honda redesigned the HR-V for 2024. Even though the outgoing generation was functional and reasonably priced, it lacked many of the features of the class leaders like the Hyundai Kona, Kia Seltos, and Mazda CX-30. So, it should be no wonder that the new HR-V looks nothing like the old one. The new Honda HR-V is powered by the same 2.0-liter inline-four engine found in the Honda Civic, and it even borrows the Civic’s platform. The HR-V used to be one of the most adaptable small SUVs for cargo space thanks to its devious second-row Magic Seat, which flipped down. But the new generation is broader and longer, which Honda claims benefits interior space. The torsion beam rear suspension of the previous model has been replaced with an independent setup, which should result in more reasonable ride quality and responsiveness. In addition to these improved safety features, the new model also has improved systems for entertainment and helping the driver.
The new 2024 Honda HR-V is a good option if you’re shopping for a small, affordable SUV. The HR-V has an upscale cabin with a high level of comfort for the driver and front- and rear-seat passengers, a large trunk, and a simple-to-operate infotainment system. For a small SUV, it’s surprisingly agile and fun to drive on twisty roads, and it even provides a smooth ride over potholes and other road imperfections. Standard equipment on the HR-V includes Apple CarPlay and adaptive cruise control. However, the HR-four-cylinder V’s engine has trouble quickly getting this SUV up to speed. The new HR-V is a much better SUV than its forerunner. However, it still isn’t the best in its class.

All-New Honda HR-V 2024 Redesign
Because, let’s face it, the old HR-V model needs frequent glances out the window onto the driveway to remember what it looks like. The new one has improved thanks to Honda’s most recent design trends. The roof moldings have been removed, and the windshield wipers have been concealed. The subcompact car’s new, more confident appearance results from its wider track, lower belt line, and redesigned fenders. The HR-front V’s fascia exudes sophistication thanks to the subtle pattern of the grille and the sleekness of the LED headlights, which are reminiscent of the design of the Accord’s lights.
Depending on the trim you choose, the honeycomb matte-finished front grille is replaced by a horizontal design grille, and the 17-inch silver-painted alloy wheels are replaced with 18-inch split five-spoke wheels on the Sport trim or Shark Grey 17-inch alloy wheels on the HR-V EX-L. To determine itself from the rest of the lineup, the Sport gets chrome exhaust tips, while the EX-L gets a power moonroof. The rear privacy glass is tinted in both of the higher-end packages.
There are seven color options, some exclusive to higher trim tiers. All models are offered in Crystal Black, Lunar Silver, Modern Steel, and Platinum White Pearl, with the latter being a $395 upcharge. The Sport package is complemented by two additional colors: Aegean Blue and Milano Red. Midnight Amethyst Metallic replaces Milano Red as an option on the EX trim and costs $395. The premium EX-L trim is available in every shade except Milano Red.

Interior
The HR-V cues its updated interior from the recently redesigned Honda Civic, which is timeless and stylish. Comfortable and supportive, the front seats offer a wealth of customization options. The previous generation featured Honda’s ingenious second-row Magic Seat, which flipped and folded the rear bench to create a shallow, flat floor. However, Honda claims that the cargo area of the new HR-V is more extensive, and the lift-over height has been lowered to make it easier to load bulky items. As a result, the HR-V has the most cargo space in its class despite its small size.
There is an Apple CarPlay and Android Auto-compatible infotainment system with a 7.0- or 9.0-inch touchscreen in all models. Still, wireless connectivity is only available on the top EX-L trim’s larger screen. The EX-L also includes a wireless charging pad as standard equipment. SiriusXM Satellite Radio, in-dash navigation, and a Wi-Fi hotspot are also likely to be included, if only as add-ons.

Engine
The Insight and Accord hybrid drivetrains are used in the HR-V, but a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine producing 158 horsepower is standard on the U.S. model. If that sounds familiar, it’s because the Honda Civic uses the same engine as its base powertrain. Since the HR-V shares its venue with the Civic, we may see a 180-horsepower turbocharged 1.5-liter or a hybrid powertrain added to the lineup. The 2.0-liter four-cylinder in the HR-V feels sluggish and gutless. Currently, all trims come standard with front-wheel drive and a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT), but an all-wheel industry is a configurable option. The previous HR-V didn’t have the quiet athleticism we’ve expected from Honda cars, but that’s been fixed by giving it a chassis from the lively Civic.
The 2024 HR-V comes standard with front-wheel drive, but our test vehicle was outfitted with Honda’s Real Time AWD system, which also added Hill Descent Control. The HR-V has Normal, Snow, and Econ as its three primary drive modes. The Normal setting is precisely what it sounds like, while the Snow setting modifies the throttle response, adjusts the transmission and AWD for slippery conditions, and disables the auto engine stop/start. The Honda Econ is similar to other Honda models because it uses a more efficient air conditioning cycle and adjusts the throttle input ratio to increase fuel economy. The estimated city/highway/combined mpg for the two-wheel-drive variants is 26, and for the all-wheel-drive variants, it is 25.
2024 Honda HR-V Release Date and Price
The starting price for the new 2024 Honda HR-V is $23,650. In the category of subcompact SUVs, that’s a little above the norm. But consistent with all the bells and whistles, the HR-Sticker V’s price of $28,950 is significantly lower than that of many leading competitors. The HR-V is the smallest SUV in Honda’s lineup, below the compact CR-V and the midsize Passport and Pilot. The 2024 Honda HR-V should hit the United States sometime in the summer.
