2024 Honda Passport Redesign, Price, Specs – The 2024 Honda Passport is a handy vehicle because of its vast space for luggage and passengers. The Passport is delightfully adequate in many areas, yet those who need more than two rows of seats may wish to consider the three-row Honda Pilot, the Passport’s first cousin. All models have cutting-edge driver assistance technology, from automatic cruise control to lane-keeping assistance. The only engine option is a robust V-6 that isn’t the most efficient but delivers measured acceleration. While the 2024 Passport isn’t particularly fun to drive and has a less-than-smooth ride, it’s a practical and convenient method to transport large groups of people and their belongings.
Our primary criticism of the Passport has been its generic styling, but for 2024, Honda plans to fix that. With its new chunkier grille and more squared-off profile, as well as its more rugged-looking front and rear bumpers, the vehicle’s front fascia is much more assertive. By using a unique 18-inch wheel and tire setup, the new TrailSport model furthers the off-road aesthetic. Honda claims the increased stability results from the vehicle’s slightly broader front and rear tracks. Minimal changes were made to the rest of the lineup, such as making a rear-seat reminder standard and adding contrast stitching to the leather upholstery in the EX-L model. The Honda Performance Development (HDP) package is now available for the Passport, giving it a similar look to the Honda Ridgeline. This option includes a unique grille, black fender flares, specific wheels, and an HDP graphic on the rear fenders.
2024 Honda Passport Redesign
The exterior configuration of the Passport SUV has always been subdued; nonetheless, it was never the hideous vehicle on the road. Therefore, this year’s redesign is much appreciated for its more assertive front fascia, redesigned grille and bumpers, and power-bulge hood. The exhaust finishers are more prominent, and there are new bumpers. Automatic LED headlights, rear privacy glass, a dual-exit exhaust, LED brake lights, and an intelligent programmable remote keyless entry system are all included in the base model. All versions ride on split-spoke alloy wheels measuring 20 inches in diameter, save for the new TrailSport, which depends on two-tone 18-inch alloy wheels with beefy 245/60R18 tires designed for use off-road. The TrailSport is distinguished by its orange “TrailSport” badges and black “Passport” and “AWD” badges. Roof rails are standard on the TrailSport and Elite, while parking sensors are standard on all but the base model. Walk-away auto lock, memory-linked side mirrors, and a motorized liftgate are standard on all trims. In particular, the Elite model has a hands-free tailgate.
The Honda Passport is a midsize sport utility vehicle that, at first glance, appears even more significant than rivals like the Chevrolet Blazer and Subaru Outback. The Passport’s total length is 190.5 inches, and its wheelbase is 111 inches. Its imposing dimensions of 71.6 inches in height and 78.6 inches in width are accentuated by the additional 0.6 inches in size that come with all-wheel drive. The base Passport weighs between 4,057 and 4,236 pounds (FWD/AWD). The Elite, the largest and heaviest lineup, weighs a whopping 4,262 pounds and features all-wheel drive. Track widths range from 67 inches in 2WD models to 66.7 inches in AWD models, except the TrailSport AWD, which has a track width of 67.1 inches front and rear. The FWD and AWD models have good ground clearance of 7.5 and 8.1 inches, respectively. When comparing FWD and AWD vehicles, the approach angle is 20.1, while the departure angle is 23.4.
The 2024 Honda Passport offers a gentle variety of exterior color options to compliment its appearance. Crystal Black Pearl, Lunar Silver Metallic, Obsidian Blue Pearl, and three $395 premium colors—Radiant Red Metallic, Sonic Gray Pearl, and Platinum White Pearl—are available on the base Elite versions. Lunar Silver Metallic is excellent for everyday drivers, but if you’re daring, go with the Radiant Red. There is no more Obsidian Blue for the TrailSport to use.
In between the little CR-V and the roomy three-row Pilot lies Honda’s midsize SUV, the Passport. When shopping for a new SUV, many customers have chosen the Passport because of its sleek exterior and comfortable interior. The 2024 Honda Passport has been updated cosmetically. It now features an 8-inch multimedia display that is standard on all trims, new color options for the user-customizable display, contrast-stitched leather seats, and a new Off-Road TrailSport exterior package. Honda delayed making significant upgrades to the Passport until 2024.
A leather-wrapped, heated steering wheel and a digital instrument panel with customizable displays await the driver up front. The 2024 Passport comes with regular seating for five people. There are heated front bucket seats in the front row. Ten different power adjustments are available for the driver’s seat, including the lumbar. Leather seats are standard on the EX-L, while orange stitching distinguishes the more expensive TrailSport. Seats on the top-of-the-line Elite are upholstered in perforated leather. Excellent space and comfort can be found in the front and back seats. While the interior is pleasant, you may feel some jerkiness from time to time due to the firmer suspension. Also, the cabin stays quiet enough to be comfortable, and automatic climate control with three zones is included as standard across the board.
The same 3.5-liter V-6 engine producing 280 horsepower and nine-speed automated transmission is featured in the Pilot. The Passport comes standard with front-wheel drive, but all-wheel drive is an available upgrade for those who value versatility on various terrains. The Passport SUV has a towing capacity of 5000 pounds, a ground clearance of 7.5 inches (or 8.1 inches for all-wheel-drive variants), and a height of 5 feet, 7 inches. The two-row Honda has a high ride height that adds to its top-heavy appearance and a poor ride when driven off-road. The Passport has a smooth ride on most roads, and its direct steering makes it easy to control. In our testing, the Passport quickly reached 60 miles per hour and faithfully accelerated on the highway.
The Passport has two EPA ratings due to its single-engine option and available front- or all-wheel drive. The estimated fuel economy for the front-wheel-drive version is 20/25 mpg (city/highway). All-wheel-drive Passports are rated at 19/24 mpg in the city and on the road. The latter model achieved three mpg better fuel economy than its highway rating during our testing on our fuel-efficiency route at 75 mph. 2024 Honda Passport Release Date and Price
Prices for the 2024 Honda Passport vary widely amongst the various trim levels, making it possible to choose a model that works with any budget. The FWD 2024 Honda Passport EX-L base model has a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $37,870, not including $1,225 for the destination. For an additional $2,100, you can have the all-wheel-drive model. Following the base price of $37,090 comes the new 4WD-only TrailSport (which costs $42,470) and the $45,430 Elite. When fully loaded, the Elite will be very close to $50k. If you’re looking for a used 2021 Honda Passport, you won’t have a hard time finding one priced far lower than the base model of a brand-new Honda Passport. Honda will introduce the next-generation Passport in May of 2024.
