2024 Honda CR-V Sport, Engine, Colors, AWD – The 2024 Honda CR-V features an all-new exterior and interior to better compete in the cutthroat compact SUV market. The new CR-V promises to bring even more of its signature utility thanks to its larger size and increased passenger space. In addition to its sleek exterior, it also features cutting-edge technology, such as a basic infotainment system with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility and an optional 9.0-inch touchscreen. Each CR-V comes standard with a suite of driver aids like blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control. The stock engine is a turbo-four producing 190 horsepower, but a hybrid system producing 204 horsepower is available as an upgrade. Both are interchangeable with either front or all-wheel drive. We’ll have to wait till we get behind the wheel of a 2024 CR-V to see if Honda’s claims that it provides a more engaging and refined driving experience are accurate.
The sixth generation of Honda’s small SUV will begin with the 2024 CR-V. It’s more spacious inside, has a sleeker design, and is outfitted with better amenities than its predecessor, and it also has a new outside look. According to Honda, the base turbo-four engine is now more quick and efficient than before, and the CVT and all-wheel-drive system have also been upgraded from the previous generation. With new suspension parts, more robust body panels, and wider wheels, the new CR-V should be easier to drive and more comfortable to ride in.

2024 Honda CR-V Sport Redesign
Honda’s marketing for the updated CR-V uses tired clichés like “rugged and sophisticated” to try to sell cars. Despite the generic name, the design is reminiscent of the Ridgeline pickup and the Passport TrailSport. A new L-shaped taillight cluster sits at the end of the body, which connects to the prominent grille in front. Gloss black paint is used on the EX, and EX-L trim levels’ grilles, while aggressive chrome trim surrounds the mesh grille on the Sport and Sport Touring sibling models. Their rectangular exhausts further distinguish the last two. A roof-mounted spoiler is expected on all models, with a matte black finish on the Sport and a gloss black finish on the Sport Touring. All three base models have 18-inch wheels with a Berlina Black finish; the Sport Touring, on the other hand, has 19-inch split five-spoke alloys.
Exterior Honda CR-V paint colors haven’t been officially announced, but the debut model has been shown off in what seems like a new dark blue and two hues of grey. You can count on seeing the classic Honda colors of white, black, and red. Those are some significant upgrades that will result in a larger car. The length of the 2024 CR-V has grown by 2.7 inches, and the wheelbase has increased by 1.6 inches. The redesigned layout allows for an additional 0.45 inches of breadth. The overall dimensions are 184.8 inches long, 106.3 inches wide, 73.4 inches tall, and have a wheelbase of 106.3 inches. The CR-exact V’s weight has not been released, but it is safe to assume that it will be slightly heavier than the outgoing model’s 3,337 lb.

Interior
The air vents of the Honda CR-V are hidden under a stylish honeycomb-textured inlay that spans the entirety of the dashboard. A 7.0-inch screen, accessible via the steering wheel, displays a variety of menus and readouts and works in tandem with an analog speedometer. Honda claims the new CR-driving V’s posture and supportive front seats cut down on driver fatigue on lengthy trips. There is ample storage room in the center console between the front seats, and the rear seats recline to provide an extra 0.6 inches of legroom compared to the outgoing CR-V. The capacity behind the second row is 36 cubic feet or 39 cubic feet in gas-only variants with the load floor lowered.
In the EX and Sport models of the CR-V, the infotainment system is controlled via a 7.0-inch touchscreen. The system is compatible with CarPlay and Android Auto and has physical volume and tuning knobs. A 9.0-inch screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is standard on the EX-L and Sport Touring. The larger display lacks a tuning knob, but there are two USB-C ports for rear-seat passengers and wireless smartphone charging extra to the built-in navigation. The CR-V Sport Touring is the only trim level that can be had with the 12-speaker Bose audio system.

Engine
The new CR-V is Honda’s attempt to consolidate the company’s conventional and hybrid SUV offerings under a single umbrella. The EX and EX-L trims of the Honda CR-V get a 1.5-liter Civic Si turbocharged machine that produces 190 hp and 179 lb-ft of torque, up from the output of the base model. The latter has a greater spread between 1,700 and 5,000 rpm, coming 300 rpm earlier than before. This powerplant is mated to a CVT and front-wheel drive. When upgrading to the Sport or Sport Touring, the engine size grows to 2.0 liters, but the turbocharger is no longer included. A new two-motor side-by-side hybrid system is combined with the 2.0-liter Atkinson cycle four-cylinder. The total system output is 204 horsepower, three more than the last hybrid CR-V, and 247 pound-feet of torque, as measured by ISO net.
All-wheel drive is optional on lower trims but standard on the Sport Touring, so the standard drivetrain remains front-wheel drive. All-wheel drive allows you to choose between normal, eco, and snow settings for the first time, including hill descent control. The Sport mode is also available on the Sport and Sport Touring versions. The 1.5-liter turbo models should keep the same 28/34/20 mpg city/highway/combined EPA ratings as the current crossover. However, the Sport and Sport Touring, which will have a new hybrid powertrain, could get better gas mileage than the 40/35/38 mpg EPA ratings of the 2022 CR-V Hybrid.
2024 Honda CR-V Sport Release Date and Price
Honda has been mum about the cost of the 2024 CR-V, but the company has guaranteed excellent value. It must maintain that price if it wants to compete with the Toyota RAV4, which sells for between $27,000 and $38,000. Prices for the current CR-V are similar, so any increase will likely be minimal. Honda has announced that the 2024 CR-V, revealed in July 2024, will be available this summer. The hybrid variants, however, will not be available until later in the year.
