2024 Honda CR-V Redesign, Specs, Price – Even though the Honda portfolio has illustrious models like the Civic and Accord, those two models are far from being the Japanese automaker’s best-sellers. The CR-V, the best-selling crossover SUV in the United States for the past 25 years, is now in its sixth iteration. The most recent version is an entirely new model, and if early reviews are any indication, Honda enthusiasts in the United States should be happy. The new CR-V includes an all-new exterior and interior design, advanced technological enhancements, and a turbocharged four-cylinder engine good for 190 hp and 179 lb-ft of torque. The Sport Touring Hybrid, the range-topping model, is a 204-horsepower hybrid that also achieves excellent fuel economy. Since the first-generation CR-V set a high bar, rivals like the Toyota RAV4 and Mazda CX-5 must be on high alert.
The new and upgraded technology and safety features found in the 2024 Honda CR-V and its revamped interior set it apart from its predecessor. There’s more room inside, and a brand-new touchscreen display measures seven inches. The continuous variable transmission (CVT) and the all-wheel-drive system have been improved, and the gas variants now include a more responsive and economic turbocharged engine. Two gas versions and two hybrid models cover all the bases, and the trim levels and features have been simplified. About half of all units manufactured will be the hybrid version, propelled by a brand-new, fourth-generation dual-motor system with the motors installed side by side.

2024 Honda CR-V Redesign
To reduce unneeded bulk, the rear frame rails of every model are made out of 1,500 MPa steel with impact crush control soft zones. The new CR-V has a more robust and imposing appearance than its predecessors. There is a more prominent black grille and smaller LED headlamps. Slender taillights meet the back window. Getting rid of the chrome beam makes for a cleaner, more refined back end. A higher position has been established for the license plate holder. The official color palette has not been revealed, although darker blues and reds can be expected among the standard white, black, and grey choices. Additionally, the Sport hybrid model rides on 18-inch wheels, while the Sport Touring model rides on 19-inch aluminum alloy wheels. With a height of 66.9 inches, the crossover has a clearance of 8.2 inches.
Compared to the Subaru Crosstrek, Toyota RAV4, and Hyundai Tucson, the CR-V is noticeably longer. The vehicle is wider than the RAV4 Hybrid and has greater ground clearance. The new 2024 model has a longer wheelbase and is taller than the Crosstrek and the Tucson. Compared to the CR-V and the Tucson, which have more up-to-date designs, the RAV4 and the Crosstrek look more like traditional SUVs. The imposing V’s front fascia is complemented by its sleek headlamps. Tucson’s headlamps are integrated into the front grille, which is a nice touch.
The new CR-V’s exterior design merits eye-catching hues, and all trim levels can access the same options. All four available colors (Canyon River Blue Metallic, Crystal Black Pearl, Lunar Silver Metallic, and Meteorite Gray Metallic) are included at no extra cost. An additional $395 is required for premium paint jobs in colors like Platinum White Pearl, Radiant Red Metallic, Still Night Pearl, and Urban Gray Pearl.

Interior
The new 2024 Honda CR-V interior was tasked with being sportier and more up-to-date than the outgoing model, and for the most part, the company succeeded. The front seats are designed to keep the driver comfortable even on long journeys. All versions now come standard with power seats that can be adjusted for height, width, and lumbar support, and the cabin is roomier than before. The honeycomb dashboard design is a great aesthetic addition. The new design features a standard seven-inch driver information display, while the top trims get a massive nine-inch color touchscreen for infotainment.
Every one of the five people who can fit inside the updated Honda CR-V cabins will enjoy their time there. Although the middle rear seat is rarely a good choice, the back row now has 41 inches of legroom, an increase of 0.6 inches from the outgoing model. There is a generous 41.3 inches of legroom for front-seat passengers, and the cabin’s average height is 38.2 inches. The driver and front passenger seats heat up in cold weather, and long trips won’t be a burden with ten-way power adjustment (including two-way lumbar).
This year, the infotainment system on the lowest models has been streamlined to a seven-inch touchscreen. The six-speaker, 240-watt sound system features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility and Bluetooth connectivity. This is improved to a nine-inch color touchscreen with SiriusXM and HD Radio, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 320-watt, eight-speaker audio system on the EX-L and Sport Touring Hybrid. The highest trim level, the Sport Touring Hybrid, features a premium Bose 12-speaker sound system with a subwoofer.

Engine
The CR-V comes with a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 190 horsepower. It can be combined with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive and a CVT. Both the EX and the EX-L come standard with this configuration. Only the hybrid drivetrain, consisting of a 2.0-liter four-cylinder and two electric motors producing 204 horsepower, is available for the Sport and Sport Touring trims. AWD is optional on the Sport but standard on the Sport Touring. The Sport Touring Hybrid achieved 60 mph on our test track in a respectable 7.9 seconds. Hill-descent control is included on all CR-Vs and helps to reduce the vehicle’s speed when descending steep or treacherous hills at low rates. Most trims ride on standard-issue 18-inch wheels, but the Sport rides on gloss-black wheels. All new, specifically designed, and finished in black, the Sport Touring’s 19-inch wheels stand out. For the first time, the hybrid versions can tow up to 1000 pounds. The new CR-V has a comfortable ride and enough guts to avoid being dull, but it can’t match the handling delights of the Mazda CX-50 or the Volkswagen Tiguan.
The CR-V is available with either a 1.5-liter gas engine producing 190 horsepower or a 2.0-liter gas engine paired with two electric motors producing 204 horsepower in a hybrid configuration. The most fuel-efficient CR-V is the front-wheel-drive Sport Hybrid, which scores 43 mpg city and 36 mpg highway, while the front-wheel-drive CR-V with the turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder earns EPA estimates of 28 mpg city and 34 mpg highway. On our real-world, 75-mph highway fuel economy route, the all-wheel-drive Sport Touring Hybrid achieved 31 mpg. We have yet to test the nonhybrid CR-V. The EPA’s website has details on the CR-V’s mileage.
