2024 Honda CR-V EX-L Engine, Dimensions, AWD – A redesigned Honda CR-V for 2024 will give the company a fighting chance in the cutthroat small SUV market. The new CR-V aims to bring even more of its signature utility thanks to its larger size and increased passenger capacity. One example of cutting-edge technology is a 9.0-inch touchscreen entertainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Adaptive cruise management, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-keeping assist are just a few driving aids that come standard on every CR-V. The base engine is a turbo-four producing 190 horsepower, but a hybrid system producing 204 horsepower is available as an upgrade. They both work with either front or all-wheel drive. Until we get behind the wheel of a 2024 CR-V, we won’t know whether Honda’s claims that it provides a more exciting and refined driving experience are accurate.
In the 2024 model year, Honda will release the sixth iteration of its popular small SUV, the CR-V. It’s more spacious inside, has a sleeker design, and is outfitted with more excellent amenities, not to mention that it looks completely new on the outside. The continuously variable automatic gearbox (CVT) and all-wheel-drive system have been upgraded from the previous generation. Honda claims that the base turbo-four engine is now faster and more efficient. The new CR-V is said to have better handling and a smoother ride because the front and back tracks are more comprehensive, and the suspension parts have been fine-tuned.

2024 Honda CR-V EX-L Redesign
Honda’s marketing for the updated CR-V uses tired clichés like “rugged and sophisticated.” Despite the generic name, the design is reminiscent of the Ridgeline pickup and the Passport TrailSport. A new L-shaped taillight cluster sits at the end of the body, which connects to the prominent grille in front. In contrast to the aggressive bumper design and mesh grille in gloss black found on the Sport and Sport Touring siblings, the EX and EX-L trim grilles are finished in gloss black with chrome surrounds. In addition, the last two have been given rectangular exhausts to set them further apart. A roof-mounted spoiler is standard on all models, with a matte black finish on the Sport and a gloss black finish on the Sport Touring. The three base versions ride on 18-inch wheels with a Berlina Black finish, while the Sport Touring upgrades to a set of 19-inch split five-spoke alloys.
Though the official Honda CR-V exterior colors haven’t been revealed, the debut vehicle has been shown off in what looks to be a new dark blue and two shades of gray. Common Honda colors like white, black, and red should show up. In this example, significant upgrades result in a larger car. Length and wheelbase both increased by 2.7 inches for the 2024 CR-V. The revised layout allows for an additional 0.45 inches of breadth. As for dimensions, it’s 184.8 inches long, 106.3 inches wide, 73.4 inches tall, and has a 106.3-inch wheelbase. The CR-exact V’s weight has not been made public, but it is likely to be heavier than the starting weight of 3,337 pounds for the model it replaces.

Interior
The air vents of the Honda CR-V are hidden under a stylish honeycomb-textured inlay that spans the entirety of the dashboard. A 7.0-inch display with selectable menus is housed in the cluster of gauges surrounding the steering wheel. The speedometer is analog. Honda claims that the front seats and driving posture of the new CR-V are both engineered to reduce driver fatigue on lengthy trips. There is plenty of hold space in the center console between the front seats, and the rear seats recline to provide an extra 0.6 inches of legroom compared to the previous CR-V. The area behind the second row is 36 cubic feet, but in gas-only variants, it may expand to 39 cubic feet when the load floor is lowered.
In the EX and Sport trims, the CR-infotainment V system is controlled via a 7.0-inch touchscreen. In addition to supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the system also has physical volume and tuning knobs. On the EX-L and Sport, Touring trim levels, an optional 9.0-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is available. Despite the lack of a tuning knob on the larger display, the integrated navigation system, two USB-C connections for the back seat passengers, and wireless smartphone charging are all there. The CR-V Sport Touring trim level is required to get the premium 12-speaker Bose audio system.

Engine
With this generation of CR-V, Honda is consolidating the previous generation’s standard and hybrid models under a single, unified brand. The standard Honda CR-V is powered by the same 1.5-liter turbocharged engine found in the Civic Si, which produces 185 hp and 180 lb-ft of torque in its higher-trim EX and EX-L trims. The latter may be expected to reach its full range of 1,700-5,000 rpm sooner. This powerplant is mated to front-wheel drive and a CVT. The Sport and Sport Touring models have a 2.0-liter engine but no turbo. A new two-motor side-by-side hybrid system is combined with the 2.0-liter four-cylinder Atkinson cycle motor. The new hybrid CR-V puts total system output at 204 horsepower, a gain of 3 hp over the previous hybrid CR-V, and 247 lb-ft of torque.
All-wheel drive is still an available extra on lower grades but is standard on the Sport Touring. Not only do all-wheel-drive vehicles have the option of Normal, Econ, and Snow modes, but they also include hill descent control. The Sport mode is also available on the Sport and Sport Touring versions. The 1.5-liter turbo variants will most likely keep the same city/highway/combined mpg ratings as the current crossover (28/34/20), while the Sport and Sport Touring, thanks to their new hybrid system, could achieve ratings higher than the 40/35/38 of the 2024 CR-V Hybrid.
2024 Honda CR-V EX-L Release Date and Price
Honda has been mum about the cost of the 2024 Honda CR-V, but the company has guaranteed excellent value. It must maintain that price if it wants to compete with the Toyota RAV4, which sells for between $27,000 and $38,000. Price increases over the existing CR-V should be minimal. Honda has said that the 2024 CR-V will be available this summer, but the hybrid models won’t be out until later.
