2024 Honda Civic Type R Release Date, Interior – Even if the 2024 Honda Civic Type R is less flashy than its forerunner, it should provide just as much, if not more, driving excitement. The next iteration of Honda’s high-performance hero, which now shares its underpinnings with the standard Civic and Civic Si, was recently introduced. Although we lack official information, we suspect that Honda has upgraded the power of the refreshed turbocharged four-cylinder engine. We’re relieved to share the news that the next-generation Type R will continue to offer a manual gearbox option. So far, Honda has only specified the stick shift, so drivers who can’t execute the three-pedal shuffle are out of luck.
The 2024 Honda Civic Type R is mechanically identical to the outgoing model. The only change is the addition of a new higher trim level. You can tell it’s special because of the limited quantity printed on it. Only one thousand will be made, with 600 destined for the United States. Features include lightweight BBS forged alloys wrapped in Michelin tires, gloss black accents, and revised steering and damper calibration, all of which are uniquely presented in Phoenix Yellow Pearl paint. In addition to being the lightest Formula One car ever, it also holds the FWD record in Suzuka.

2024 Honda Civic Type R Redesign
The Civic Type R’s exterior design is as “in your face” as it gets. Several vents in the front bumper complement the dramatic chin spoiler and LED headlamps. This hostility extends to the hood, which features a vent, and the front fenders, which also include a vent. The rear of the auto is adorned with a wing in the manga style, additional fake vents, a massive diffuser, and three exhaust points; the aggressive side skirts draw the focus to these features. The LE variant has unique BBS wheels that are 20 inches in diameter. If the yellow paint on the outside didn’t give it away, the rear wiper is also taken off the LE model to make it more aerodynamic and lighter.
Honda claims the new 2024 Type R is 0.8 inches elongated, 0.5 inches lower, and 0.6 inches more comprehensive than before due to its unique aerodynamic touches. Even though the details are smoother than in the previous model, these modifications give the new Type R a more aggressive, sporty stance. The hatchback’s current length, height, and width are 180.9 inches, 55.4 inches, and 74.4 inches, respectively. The Honda Civic Type R’s wheelbase measures 107.7 inches, 1.4 inches longer than its predecessor. Additionally, the front and rear tracks have been widened by one inch and 0.75 inches to enhance straight-line stability and steering feel.
The previous new Civic Type R was considered just over 3,100 pounds, so unless Honda has significantly reduced the curb weight of the new model, it shouldn’t be too far off. The brand has not yet released this figure, however.
The length of the 2021 Civic Type R is identical to that of the 2024 model at 179.4 inches, while the wheelbase measures 106.3 inches. The depth is 56.5 inches, and the breadth is 73.9 inches. The curb weight of the Touring model is 3,121 pounds, while that of the LE variant is 3,075 pounds, a difference of 46 pounds. The Limited Edition model is easily distinguished by its distinctive Phoenix Yellow Pearl paint finish, which is unavailable on any other model. However, gloss black accents such as mirror caps, a roof panel, and a hood scoop are included. Thankfully, the standard model provides some customization options without the yellow color. Crystal Black Pearl and Rallye Red are the base colors, while Boost Blue Pearl, Championship White, and Sonic Gray Pearl cost an additional $395.

Interior
The 2024 Civic Type R may have a more understated interior than its forerunner, but that doesn’t mean it lacks aesthetic flare or sophistication. The most noticeable splash of color is seen in the red seat upholstery and matching carpeting. Like the standard Civic, the Type R has a digital gauge cluster, and physical temperature controls mounted high above a center console containing a spacious storage bin and two cupholders. The Type R has Honda’s most current infotainment system, operated through a 9.0-inch touchscreen on the upper dashboard. We expect it to come packed with popular standard features like wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a subscription-based Wi-Fi hotspot, and wireless smartphone charging.
This leads us to believe that the 2024 Civic Type R will share the same modern, sporty cabin as the redesigned Civic Si. We are huge fans of the new Civic’s interior, which is simple and free of unnecessary features. The 2024 Civic Type R place is primarily black with red accents. The air conditioning vents on the door trim and the seats are framed in red. The traditional low and broad dashboard has been revitalized thanks to horizontal strips of mesh-like plastic trim and a floating 9-inch touchscreen in the dashboard’s center. There aren’t many controls in the cockpit, and it has a sleek and sporty appearance.

Engine
As before, the 2024 Civic Type R will be driven by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, although its output is expected to increase from the previous generation’s 306 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. Honda has announced that the most potent Civic will still be available with a manual transmission. In place of a completely new chassis, the next-gen Type R will use a revised version of the one seen in the outgoing model. It seems to rule out using a front suspension with control arms, like the one on the Acura TLX. Instead, the Honda, which only has front-wheel drive, will probably keep using its unique dual-axis strut front suspension, preventing torque steer.
The two generations of the Civic Type R aren’t as aesthetically radical, but it still features a large rear wing and further aerodynamic enhancements. In place of the older model’s 20-inch wheels, the new CTR rides on 19-inches shod in summer rubber with a broader tread pattern. Neither the Environmental Protection Agency nor Honda has released information on the 2024 Civic Type R’s city or highway fuel economy. Once those numbers are revealed, and we have the chance to drive one on our 75-mph highway fuel-economy route—part of our thorough testing regimen—we can evaluate its real-world mpg. See the EPA’s website for more information about Civic Type R’s fuel efficiency.
2024 Honda Civic Type R Date and Price
The essential Honda Civic Type R is not cheap, starting at an MSRP of $37,895 (before the $995 destination fee). The starting price of the more rare Limited Edition model is $43,995, but there aren’t many options for customization. The price tag of a fully-loaded model rarely exceeds $50,000.
