The premium Sport Touring comes in only three colors—Crystal Black (at no extra cost), Platinum White Pearl (for an additional charge), and Sonic Gray Pearl (for an additional charge).
The 2024 Honda Civic is mechanically identical to the current model year’s, yet its cabin is as modern, upscale, and uncluttered as ever. While we adore the honeycomb-style grille that spans the entire dashboard, we aren’t sure how easily it can be kept clean. We think the semi-digital display for the driver (utterly digital on the highest trim) is more attractive and comfortable to read than the more elaborate and complicated alternatives on the market. However, starting with the EX model, you can have deluxe features like heated leather seats, power adjustments, and even an armrest for the second row.
Additionally, the 2024 Civic offers just black and gray for its cabin. Regarding the second row of seats, a folding bench is included as standard equipment, but the 60/40 split is reserved for the upper trim levels. The trunk is one of the largest in its category, measuring 14.8 cubic feet. A 7-inch screen, in this day and age of massive touchscreens that occupy the entire dashboard, doesn’t belong in a modern vehicle. We like how it floats in place, but the small screen with large bezels on both ends and physical buttons gives the device an odd and cheap appearance. The larger 9-inch unit still doesn’t improve things as much as we’d hoped it would.
The base 2024 Honda Civic Hatchback isn’t high-speed because of its 2.0-liter naturally aspirated inline-four engine. Even with the tacho pointing north, you won’t be able to feel the car move because of its meager 158 horsepower and 138 pound-feet of torque. The continuously variable transmission, as usual, squanders a large portion of the power produced by the engine, allowing the vehicle to accelerate to 60 mph in a leisurely 9.5 seconds. However, we must state that the unit is buttery smooth, and its exceptionally refined character makes it a joy to drive at a city’s average pace. The 1.5L turbocharged motor is a must-have if performance is even a consideration.
The 2024 Honda Civic retains its predecessor’s agility, one of the model’s hallmarks. We were a little let down to learn that this version is slower than the one it replaces, but the 1.5-liter turbo-4 engine delivers 180 horsepower and 177 pound-feet, propelling the Civic to 60 miles per hour in 7.6 seconds, the quarter-mile in 16 seconds flat, and a peak speed of 139 miles per hour. While the entire platform is essentially an updated version of the previous generation, it still has what it takes to win regarding dynamics.
The 20-hp increase and the beefy torque band offer the car some much-needed vitality, though they won’t change its performance. If you let the turbo spool up, the 2024 Civic pulls with surprising vigor for an economic engine. It keeps going until the needle touches the red line. Even though this specific unit has been detuned from the previous generation, it nevertheless gives the vehicle a sense of vitality. It makes it seem like it was designed to be driven aggressively. However, it is intended more for gearbox life than sheer performance, so while the paddle shifters are a lot of fun, they aren’t efficient for downshifts.

A hatchback version of the 2024 Honda Civic is scheduled to go on sale in the United States in the summer of that year.
